Power Grid Corporation of India Limited — JV/Acquisition, 04-06-2025: Acquisition

Power Grid Corporation has acquired 100% of MEL Power Transmission Limited for Rs. 8.53 Cr. MEL is a new entity set up to build and operate a 400kV double-circuit line evacuating power from Mahan Energen’s plant in Madhya Pradesh. This deal enhances Power Grid’s transmission network in MP, supporting its infrastructure growth with new operational assets. MEL has no prior commercial operations or revenue, so impact will be gradual but strategic for regional expansion.
