Steel Authority of India posted steady crude steel production of 19.17 million tons in FY25, with sales volume up 5% to a record 17.9 million tons. Revenue reached INR1.02 lakh crores, EBITDA stood at INR11,644 crores, and PAT was INR2,148 crores. Q4 saw a 10% rise in production and 20% jump in sales, driving 16% PAT growth to INR1,178 crores, supported by cost savings of ~INR650 crores from operational efficiencies.
Management plans to expand capacity from 20 to 35 million tons by 2030 with INR7,500 crores capex in FY26, focusing on brownfield expansions. Stable coal costs and improved net sales realization (NSR) are positives. Employee costs rose in Q4 but are expected to ease by INR400–500 crores in FY26.
Outlook is optimistic on demand growth from infrastructure and easing policy, emphasizing capacity utilization, cost control, decarbonization, and debt reduction while balancing capex needs.
