Ponni Sugars (Erode) Ltd has announced a favorable judgement from the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) on the levy of Parallel Operation Charges (POC). A previous order requiring all captive generating plants to pay POC regardless of parallel operation status has been set aside. The tribunal clarified that only plants opting for parallel operation with the grid by following the proper application process are liable to pay these charges. This ruling will lead to the reversal of provisions amounting to about Rs.4.95 Cr in the first quarter of FY 2025-26, improving the company’s financial position.
