Adani Power Limited has announced a board meeting on the approval of its Rs. 4000 Cr cash acquisition of Vidarbha Industries Power Limited (VIPL), adding 600 MW of coal-based power capacity in Maharashtra. This acquisition will raise Adani Power’s total operating capacity to 18,150 MW, strengthening its position as a leading private sector power producer in India. VIPL's recent annual turnover is around Rs. 8.7 Cr, reflecting a modest revenue base relative to its capacity addition impact. The deal is set to complete within 30 days of approval.
