Kalpataru Projects International’s wholly owned subsidiary, Wainganga Expressway Private Limited (WEPL), won an arbitration award allowing certain claims against National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which could be material once realized. Subsequently, NHAI challenged this award through a legal petition. Recently, NHAI issued a termination notice accusing WEPL of default and claimed INR 351.46 Cr, which WEPL disputes, citing the earlier arbitration ruling in its favor. WEPL does not expect significant financial impact from this notice and is exploring legal options to safeguard its interests.
