Indian Overseas Bank's Hong Kong branch faced disciplinary action from the HKMA for breaching anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing norms from May 2021 to January 2024. The bank is required to conduct a transaction review, implement a remedial plan, and get an independent assessment. A penalty of approximately INR 9.29 Cr (HK$8.5 million) was imposed. The bank states this financial impact is not material and has already strengthened internal processes and staff training. This disciplinary action is not expected to materially impact the bank's future operations.
