Vedanta has approved an additional USD 84 million (approx. 701 Cr) for Gamsberg Phase II Project enhancements. This boosts plant throughput by 10% and metal recovery by 3%, increasing ore capacity from 4 Mtpa to 8.4 Mtpa. The project aims for an additional 220 ktpa metal in concentrate, positioning Vedanta Zinc International as South Africa's largest zinc producer. Separately, the company decided to halt its Scheme of Arrangement to transfer General Reserve to Retained Earnings, citing evolving strategic priorities. This decision is subject to NCLT approval.
