Jammu & Kashmir Bank reported a Q1 net profit of ₹485 Cr, up 16.7% YoY, marking its highest ever first-quarter profit. This included a one-time ₹87 Cr provision related to a Grameen Bank merger; without it, profit growth would exceed 30%. Deposits grew 12.1% YoY, while advances saw a muted 6.1% YoY growth. Gross NPA increased slightly to 3.5%, largely due to loan book degrowth rather than new stress, with SMA-0 accounts significantly reduced by aligning repayments. Management maintains confidence, guiding for 12% credit growth and aiming for GNPA below 3%. Strategic focus includes retail expansion, boosting other income, and leveraging IT for efficiency and asset quality.
