Balrampur Chini Mills reported Q1 FY26 revenue up 8.5% year-on-year, driven by higher volumes and realizations in sugar and distillery segments. However, profit declined due to significantly lower sugarcane crushing (~66%) and unabsorbed fixed overheads, reflecting the seasonal nature of the sugar business. The company is actively working on cane development. Its major Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) project is progressing well with construction underway and nearly ₹927 crore spent. Management is optimistic about potential revisions in ethanol and sugar prices, and expects a good monsoon to aid future cane yields, maintaining a positive long-term outlook.
