Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd. (HOCL) has initiated a temporary shutdown of its Phenol Plant at the Kochi unit. This operational halt is due to the discontinuation of LPG supply from BPCL, which is a primary feedstock source. The supply cut follows a Government of India directive to prioritize LPG for domestic consumers. The Phenol Complex, manufacturing Phenol and Acetone, is directly affected. While the Phenol Plant is temporarily offline, HOCL's Hydrogen Peroxide plant continues to operate. The company states it cannot currently estimate the financial impact of this force majeure event, posing a significant operational challenge.
