Sumitomo Chemical India reported a resilient Q1 performance, with revenue up 1% year-on-year to 1,063 Cr, despite a challenging agrochem market due to monsoon delays. Net Profit increased 20% to 215 Cr, boosted by a 27 Cr insurance claim from a past fire incident.

The company is launching new products like Topgrain and Helibax in Q2FY27. Strategic capex includes a 150 Cr herbicide plant at Dahej (operational Q2 FY2028-29) and a 10 Cr upgrade at Tarapur (Q4 FY2027-28) to supply the parent company, boosting global manufacturing capabilities.

Board re-constitution is effective September 1, 2026. Dr. Suresh Ramachandran is the new MD; Mr. Chetan Shantilal Shah becomes Non-Executive Director and is being considered for Chairman. Management anticipates sowing activity recovery with improving monsoon, focusing on sustainable growth via differentiated products and operational excellence.
