Balrampur Chini's Q1 FY27 saw revenue growth in Sugar and Distillery segments. Higher sugar prices helped offset increased cane costs, with 45.67 lakh quintals of sugar inventory at ₹37.19/kg providing a favorable base for future profitability. Management anticipates tight sugar supply will keep prices firm, expecting future ethanol diversion only to C-heavy, which should have a positive net impact. The 80,000-tonne PLA plant progresses, targeting December commissioning and 40% utilization by Q4 FY27. ₹2,180 crore capex has been spent. Management is confident about sugar's positive outlook and PLA's long-term potential as a large market, despite short-term new business challenges.
