Adani Power, India's largest private baseload power generator, reported strong Q1 FY27 performance with revenue up 20% YoY to $2,040 Mn and profit (PAT) surging 33% YoY to $514 Mn. For FY26, revenue was $6,553 Mn and PAT $1,469 Mn. The company operates 18.33 GW capacity, with 95%+ tied to Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and 96% plant availability in Q1 FY27.

APL is strategically expanding to meet India's booming electricity demand, targeting 42.05 GW total capacity. This includes 23.7 GW of locked-in capacity with secured land and critical equipment ordered, favoring faster brownfield project execution and strategic coal sourcing.

Recent highlights include the successful turnaround of 7.5 GW of acquired stressed assets, significantly improving their operational and financial metrics. Financially, APL's Net Debt to Continuing EBITDA dramatically improved from 9.75x (FY19) to 2.12x (June 2026).

Management expects existing operations to generate $16 Bn in Free Funds from Operations over the next seven years. This substantial cash flow will primarily fund the $19 Bn capex planned for expansion, ensuring self-funded growth and emphasizing coal's crucial role in India's energy future.
